Aston Martin DB9: The ExteriorThe first version of Aston Martin DB9 exterior was done in 2001 however the designers had to reconsider the concept, which triggered 2 years delay. Aston Martin chief designer at that time thought the design was too aggressive. Consequently, Aston Martin DB9's exterior became more balanced. The distinctive feature of Aston Martin DB9 exterior is the doors as they go up (12 degrees angle) when opened. It was then announced after the premier that such doors could become the distinctive feature of all brand models in future and the constructors suggest using these doors when designing the cars built on VH platform. Volvo specialists were responsible for aerodynamics and they managed to assure optimal air streams' distribution. The constructors reduced the rising force as it affects steerability when driving fast. Volvo specialists also assured nice passive safety: the engineers chose the size and the shape of the deformation elements placed in the front element of the frame before the engine. These elements act as dampers in case of the frontal crash.
