Aston Martin DB9: The History of the Model

Aston Martin DB9 project was launched in summer of 2000, that is, one and a half months after Ulrich Bez became the company's head. He was the head of the research and development department in Porsche AG company before that appointment.

Aston Martin worked on some other unusual model at that time but Ulrich Bez ordered to close the project and to concentrate on the project called "DB9".

The task Ulrich Bez had to achieve was to increase the company's profits, therefore an all-purpose VH platform was created as it could be used to build several models. This platform allowed creating the automobiles of different lengths and taking advantage of the best groundworks made in the companies that are included in Ford Motor.

The work on Aston Martin DB9's design was finished by the end of 2001. However Henrik Fisker replaced Ian Callum on the position of a chief designer and he didn't like the result of that work.

Aston Martin DB9 made its debut in the end of 2003. This automobile meant a new page in the history of the brand as Aston Martin DB9 turned out to become the forefather of the British super-cars range.
