Aston Martin: The Nineteen 40ies

"Atom" produced lasting impression on the visitors of the motor show that took place in London in 1940.

However the war introduced its own corrections.

In 1947 David Brown (the owner of a large-scale industrial company that produced tractors and farming machines) buys the company. "Atom" is again in production this year.

In 1948 first DB model provided with a new 6-cylinder 2.0-liter engine featuring two overhead camshafts was designed. It was based on the "Atom" platform and the engine was a product made by "Bentley" for "Lagonda" brand.

However Aston Martin models were also provided with these engines as David Brown owned Lagonda as well. The engine was installed on a light chassis with an aerodynamic closed body. So that was how 15 "DB1" automobiles were produced.
