Aston Martin: The Nineteen 70iesIn 1972 Aston Martin was purchased by Company Development Ltd and therefore this company took "DB" series automobiles out of production. The economic crisis of those years that lasted for about 6 years almost led to Aston Martin's liquidation. The company produced limited series of sports cars during the 70ies and the models were called Vantage (coupe) and Volante (cabriolet). These very models were the most expensive cars among those provided with 340-horsepower and 390-horsepower 5.3-liter V8 engines, direct fuel-injection, and American automatic gearboxes. In 1976 Aston Martin Lagonda was designed. It was one of the most extravagant cars in the world and it boasted of a long hood and of a 390-horsepower 8-cylinder engine with Chrysler automatic gearbox. Lagonda was put on the market in 1978.
