Aston Martin: The Nineteen 80ies

These brand name cars were put into serial production by 1980 and there was one car per week produced since that time. It was an affordable model although Lagonda was in much demand in the Middle East.

In the early 80ies the company was close to a crisis and it was therefore several times purchased by English and American industrial and financial groups during some 7 years that followed. However it was meaningless.

The things changed a bit in 1987 when the American "Ford" concern bought 75% of the company's share. That was the time when Vantage and Volante were still in production along with a new coupe Virage. Vantage and Volante models were provided with the engines that put out 305-400 hp.
